Secret Santa 2012

Just wanted to post the gifts I got from playing two Secret Santas this year.

1st: William got me a Kenneth Cole watch!

2nd: Wakako got me Levi’s 511 trousers, but I really wanted the commuter version of it. I went to the Levi’s store and found out that they’re discontinuing the 511 commuter trousers. So I exchanged what I had for 505 commuter jeans!

SUPERDRY

I went to the Westfield mall 2 hours ago with my dad to check out the Microsoft Surface tablet. On the way out of the mall, I saw that they have a Superdry store and that all the jackets were 40% off! So I went in there to look for a medium size, but all they had were XL, 2XL, and 3XL sizes. I got a Technical Windcheater, XL size, for $66 + tax, because they said new shipment should be coming soon and I can exchange my jacket for a M size within 30 days.

Replacing the CCFL

Old lamps taken out, New lamps ready to go in!

So as you may remember from the post in November last year, my sister’s laptop screen stopped working. I decided to try to fix my sister’s laptop LCD screen again because I found out I could replace the CCFL that light up the screen. Two 2mm lamps cost about $30. When they arrived, I was excited to open up the screen to replace the thin fragile lights so that my sister could have a real working laptop again.

FML. Broke both of the lamps.

I was able to take out the old lamps, I hooked on the wires for the new lamps, then I was applying some force for the lamps to get into position at the bottom of the screen, and SNAP, I broke both of the new lamps. There goes $30 down the drain. I just put back the original 2 lamps and I’m going to forget about trying to fix this screen. My sister will just have to use her laptop on her desk with an external monitor, until she gets a new laptop.

AUX Cable

I bought this 3.5mm male to male stereo cable to use in my car for $1.13 on Amazon from the seller Amamax. This seller is from Texas and it took only 3 days to receive my item. There are 3 other sellers who are selling this for $1.09-$1.11, but they are from Hong Kong and it’ll take 10-20 days for the item to arrive! So you need to look carefully at the sellers’ location and pay only a few cents more if you want much faster shipping.
