So as you may remember from the post in November last year, my sister’s laptop screen stopped working. I decided to try to fix my sister’s laptop LCD screen again because I found out I could replace the CCFL that light up the screen. Two 2mm lamps cost about $30. When they arrived, I was excited to open up the screen to replace the thin fragile lights so that my sister could have a real working laptop again.

I was able to take out the old lamps, I hooked on the wires for the new lamps, then I was applying some force for the lamps to get into position at the bottom of the screen, and SNAP, I broke both of the new lamps. There goes $30 down the drain. I just put back the original 2 lamps and I’m going to forget about trying to fix this screen. My sister will just have to use her laptop on her desk with an external monitor, until she gets a new laptop.
Lol! Reminds me of when I replaced the CCFL inverter board in my old MacBook Pro. It didn’t work so I had to buy a whole new LCD screen, which wound up working. But in that process I bent the metal bezel and clamped on the thin backlight wires… I think if I had opened that screen one more time the wires would have snapped…. But I eventually sold the MacBook Pro for like 2x profit 😀
